The ground breaking ceremony was held on April 1, 2007. Major construction began in June 2008 by the Carpenters for Christ volunteer organization. Read the article about one of their latest volunteer building projects here.
Following the Carpenters for Christ were several groups that finished the exterior and helped with the major interior construction and finishing. Click here for a complete list of those volunteers.
We certainly cannot fail to mention the many, many local volunteers who helped, too. Local folks helped with fund-raising projects, drywalling, painting, cabinetry, tile installation, cleanup, and interior decor.
In the 1980s, Caney Baptist Church purchased a prime piece of property in Pippa Passes with plans to one day build a new and larger Church which could serve the whole community.
For years, the Church accepted pledges and offerings for the Building Fund. Members worked in various ways to raise funds, as well.
The Ladies Sunday School Class sells their famous Peanut Butter Balls candy for holidays such as Christmas and Easter, and at fall festivals and bake sales.
A cookbook was complied with delicious recipes submitted by Church members, past and present, community, and friends across the country. The cookbook is now in its second printing and is still a popular item.
Members have held other fund-raising events such as:
Fish Fries
Spaghetti Dinners
